Weekly Roundup

Hello hello! I took a break from the blog last week because everything felt so trivial when in the thick of a stressful election. And then I took another week off, because despite the election relief, life just kept me from the blog.

On that note, here’s my take on 2020 accomplishments.

Who knew I’d ever like orange?

I shared my takeaways from using masking fluid to paint windows and doors last week. Didja catch it?

We’ve had a SimpliSafe alarm system for the past 6 years - having moved it from our old apartment to our house. It’s been such great peace of mind when we travel but most especially knowing that the smoke detectors will call the fire department if we’re not home to call. We needed to add new components to our old system so we upgraded to the newer version! They’re 35% off and come with a free camera for the next few days, so now’s a great time to snag a new system!

Wondering what to do with those election yard signs?

Why is it that I always find the best seasonal decor after the holiday has passed? I’m eyeing these stained glass pieces (here and here) for next year’s Halloween - or maybe even for all year long?

Do you remember when I plucked something growing out of my compost bin and planted it? Well, it grew into a butternut squash and I used it to make this delicious dairy-free butternut pasta. Composting is the best for so many reasons!

How Does Your State Make Electricity? This is such a helpful resource for looking at national and local energy sources. It’s helpful to know where your power is coming from so you can gauge what kind of energy action you should take at home. Remember when I measured the electrical use of everything in my home?

My tree mural print is now available as a water bottle! It comes in three different sizes, with different lid options - all in stainless steel and BPA free.

Other countries have social safety nets. The U.S. has women.

COVID-19 rates are climbing. Please take it seriously. Please avoid indoor gatherings. If you, like me, are hunkered down and shocked to see photos of non-distanced indoor gatherings, know that you aren’t alone in your efforts to isolate. I’m with you, keep it up.
