40+ Online Antique & Vintage Rug Shops

I’m on the hunt for an antique rug for the kitchen and it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. When hunting for a vintage rug, I have a few go-to stores that carry beautiful pieces, but I also source from lesser-known shops. So, here are 30+ online shops that carry beautiful old rugs for your antiquing needs!

Update, I had a list of 30, now it’s up to 40+, enjoy the new additions!

I do have loyalty to a few rug shops because they’re my real life friends (hi Brittany!) and they are masters at sourcing, curating, and educating on old rugs. But when I’m hunting for a unique size in a particular color palette, I have to look outside of favorite curated shops and hunt for that special one. You never know where that one perfectly sized, aged, and colored rug is hiding!

I’ve listed some of my favorite shops that I can always count on in the beginning of the list, then move towards shops that were recommended by my Instagram followers (thanks, folks!).

If you’re looking for a rug, click through each of these shops and dig through the inventory. Happy rug hunting!

Of course, there’s also Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and other online resale sites to buy locally. And there’s always the thrill of hunting through a pile of rugs in person, so check antique shops and rug dealers in your area, too.

After you buy your antique rug, don’t forget the important rug pad! I use this pad when the rug is held in place with furniture and use this pad when it needs non-slip support. I like these rugs because they’re cushy, made of recycled fibers, and they don’t damage my beloved hardwoods. Be careful to avoid the PVC-based rug pads that stick to floors - they can damage them longterm!

If you have any favorite rug shops that I didn’t mention, leave them in the comments and I’ll put them on the list.

I want to give a shout out to all of my foster animals who modeled my rugs so beautifully! If you can, I encourage you to foster an animal (or a bunch of animals). And as always, adopt, don’t shop, please!
