Weekly Roundup

I keep finding myself gravitating towards more color! Hannah Carpenter’s bedroom (designed by Meta Coleman) is magically colorful and her family is one of my favorites to follow on Instagram.

Tan France, who we know and love from Queer Eye, has curated a collection of handmade home goods from small businesses. The pottery, robes, and decor are all so pretty. I have my eye on these mugs.

I’ve been thrifting candle holders over the years, but have completely depleted my tapered candle stash, so I ordered these 100% beeswax tapered candles.

I forgot to include this 14-minute long podcast from NPR about ways to prepare for a wildfire when I wrote about emergency preparedness. This episode has great tips for preparing for an evacuation due to a wildfire.

My favorite fall foliage is starting to bloom and I can’t stop staring. Pink muhly grass is simply the best! Get a list of all of the plants in my garden here.

Grace Bonney’s popular book, In The Company Of Women, is now available in paperback. Plus, 50% of the book sales will go, in perpetuity, to the women featured in its pages, and the publications rotate the women featured on the cover. It’s also now under $20!

I listened to two podcasts about poop yesterday. One talked about environmental and community health affects of industrial farming waste and the other involved how we can reduce toilet flushes with a smart technology and a recipe for making faux poop. Both were interesting in their own ways!

‘Tis the season to make fall decor out of literal garbage. Save all of your scrap plastics and join me making trash pumpkins!

You’ve probably seen the adorable retro smeg toaster that costs $180. That’s out of my budget for toasters, so I snagged this lookalike for $30!

San Diego locals, here’s a comprehensive look at redlining in our community. And if you haven’t seen this 17-minute-long video about segregation in America, it’s worth a watch.

Did you catch my latest kitchen update?? Be sure to watch the video, too!

I’ve been listening to a lot of Tobe Nwigwe and this video of his performance of song, Shine, is so so pretty. This brief song is also important and when David Michael Wyatt sings I get chills.

Have a swell weekend.
